In a recent development, Florida's Republican Senator Marco Rubio has strongly advocated for Israel to obliterate Hamas, following the latter's brutal assault on the Jewish nation.
Rubio took to Twitter to express his views, stating, "Hamas exists for one reason alone, to wipe out the Jewish state of Israel. So Israel has only one option in response to yesterdays barbaric attack, the permanent elimination of Hamas."
Rubio further criticized those calling for a cease-fire or de-escalation, labeling them as either detached from the grim reality or sympathizers of Hamas. He asserted that Israel's only viable option is the complete eradication of Hamas in Gaza. "This tragically necessary effort will come at a horrifying price. But the price of failing to permanently eliminate this group of sadistic savages is even more horrifying," Rubio proclaimed.
The senator also dismissed the possibility of a cease-fire or a negotiated solution, describing Hamas as depraved barbarians. He urged Israel to respond disproportionately to this and any future attacks.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed his confidence in Israel's victory. He warned Hamas of the severe consequences of their assault, stating, "Hamas will understand that by attacking us, they've made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israels other enemies for decades to come."
The ongoing conflict has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 11 U.S. citizens, as per President Joe Biden. He also expressed concerns about the likelihood of American citizens being held captive by Hamas.
Echoing Rubio's sentiments, GOP Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas has called for unwavering American support for Israel's mission to destroy Hamas. This development underscores the escalating tensions in the region and the urgent need for a resolution.
