Surprising Statistic! You Won't Believe How Many Chinese Migrants Are Caught At Southern Border

According to Fox News, the number of Chinese nationals detained by the Border Patrol at the southern border is up 800% compared to the same statistic last year.

This is based on information from a senior official at the Customs and Border Protection (CBP). These numbers have yet to be officially released.

We have figures from October 2022 to December 2022 at 1,862 Chinese nationals who had an encounter with Border Patrol compared to just 229 between October 2021 to December 2021. That would be more than a 700% increase, and the senior official at the CBP that Fox News spoke with stated that when January's figures are added into this total, it will rise to over an 800% increase year-over-year.

Even in December alone, there were 931 Chinese nationals encountered at the border compared to 64 encounters in December 2021. A source at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Fox News that the Rio Grande Valley sector had 15 Chinese nationals in custody.

Fox has been told that Chinese nationals are typically expedited for removal from the country unless they claim to have a credible fear that they will be persecuted in their home country of China. This is causing many Chinese nationals to claim that they fear persecution in China and are therefore being released into the United States based on their recognizance.

The DHS says they are looking for Chinese spies and other threats to national security that may appear at the border. However, this might be of little comfort to many Americans as they are already concerned about the explosion of Chinese nationals and others who have arrived at the southern border at this time.

Fox News reports that three Chinese nationals were apprehended in Texas just last week after they paid human smugglers $35,000 to get into the country. Smugglers are said to typically charge Chinese nationals higher rates than they charge many others.

There were 251,000 migrant encounters in December, a very high number compared to historical standards. Fox News reports that the number is expected to drop to around 150,000 in January. The Biden White House is crediting some new measures it has taken to tighten things up at the border. Still, many find these numbers to be far from acceptable.
