Former President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on judges and prosecutors, accusing them of being "corrupt" and "highly political."
This comes after a New York court ruled that Trump and his family business had committed fraud by inflating his net worth.
In a series of statements posted on Truth Social, Trump expressed his frustration, stating, "It is a terrible reminder that the Radical Left Democrats will stop at nothing in trying to prevent me, and the American people, from winning the 2024 presidential election. Regardless of Party, we cannot let this happen in the United States of America!"
The ruling was made in a civil lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who accused Trump and his company of misleading banks, insurers, and others by exaggerating his net worth to secure larger loans and better insurance rates. State Judge Arthur Engoron found in favor of James, ordering that some of Trump's business licenses be rescinded and appointing an independent monitor to oversee the operations of the Trump Organization.
However, Trump vehemently disagreed with the ruling, asserting that his true worth far exceeded the figures presented in his financial statements. Judge Engoron's assertion that there were no victims and that the banks were satisfied with their dealings with Trump further fueled the former President's outrage.
Looking ahead, James is set to pursue $250 million in penalties and seek to ban Trump from conducting business in New York in a nonjury trial scheduled to begin next month.
In response, Trump called for intervention from the highest courts in New York State or the federal system, claiming that his "civil rights have been violated."
The battle between Trump and the legal system continues to escalate, with the former President determined to fight back against what he perceives as a politically motivated attack on his reputation and business interests. As the legal proceedings unfold, the outcome will have significant implications for Trump's future endeavors and potential political aspirations.
