Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur and owner of X, has announced his plans to visit Eagle Pass, Texas, following a discussion with Rep Tony Gonzales (R-TX) about the escalating crisis at the southern border.
Musk shared his intentions on X, stating, "I spoke with Rep Tony Gonzales tonight he confirmed that it is a serious issue," and added, "Am going to visit Eagle Pass later this week to see whats going on for myself."
This announcement was in response to drone footage revealing hundreds of migrants perched atop trains bound for the US southern border. Concurrently, images shared by American journalist Jorge Ventura on X depicted Venezuelan migrants camping on sidewalks throughout downtown El Paso.
Ventura reported, "Hundreds of Venezuelan migrants sleeping on sidewalks all around downtown El Paso including children as resources are overwhelmed," and added, "yesterday we a line over 1,000 Venezuelan migrants in Juarez lining up to be processed by border patrol agents in El Paso."
Ventura also revealed that over 7,800 migrants have been released into the streets of San Diego within the past 13 days. Eagle Pass, the border town Musk intends to visit, has seen a surge of illegal immigrants in recent times. The Daily Mail reports that over 7,500 individuals entered the small town of 28,000 residents within a span of two days, prompting the town's Democrat mayor to declare a state of emergency.
In the meantime, President Joe Biden has announced plans to expedite the processing of over 300,000 Venezuelan migrants who have entered the US since July 31. The US-Mexico border saw an influx of 232,972 individuals in August, indicating an increase from previous months.
Musk has been vocal about his belief that the media has intentionally overlooked the crisis, stating, "This gets no coverage because the media NPCs are instructed not to cover it."
His planned visit to Eagle Pass comes amidst his increasing engagement with political issues. Recently, he met with Hungarian President Katalin Novk at the Tesla Giga factory in Texas to discuss issues related to changing demographics.
