Renowned artist Usher has been officially announced as the main act for the Super Bowl LVIII, set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The news was unveiled by Apple Music on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, on Sunday morning.

In a statement to Variety, Usher expressed his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "Its an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I cant wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else theyve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. Ill see you real soon."

Regarding potential guest performers, Usher hinted during an Apple Music halftime headliner special that discussions are ongoing, with plenty of Sundays left to finalize the lineup.

Usher's upcoming performance follows Rihanna's controversial act at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in Arizona. The event, which saw Rihanna revealing her second pregnancy, attracted nearly 119 million viewers. However, it also sparked over 100 complaints to the Federal Communications Commission, with critics deeming the show "overtly sexual," as reported by TMZ.

Peter O'Reilly, the National Football League Executive Vice President, Club Business, Major Events, and International, expressed his enthusiasm about bringing Super Bowl LVIII to Las Vegas. In a press release, he said, "This city is a capital of sports and entertainment, always providing an incredible high-energy atmosphere for our events. We look forward to continuing the work with our local partners to provide an extraordinary experience for the Las Vegas community and show fans around the world what this city has to offer."

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, who was reportedly offered the chance to perform at the event, declined due to her commitments to her Eras world tour, as per the Daily Mail. Swift has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
