Florida officials have taken action after a 13-foot alligator was spotted carrying human remains in Ridgecrest, Florida.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, responded to reports of a body in the waterway near 134th Avenue North and 121st Street on Friday.

The alligator was subsequently "humanely killed" with the assistance of wildlife officials. Blood was visible near the alligator, indicating its involvement in the incident.

Eyewitness JaMarcus Bullard recounted his experience, stating, "I could tell there was a body in his mouth, so I started recording." Bullard promptly reported the sighting to the local fire department.

Another witness, Terri Williams, expressed her shock at the presence of an alligator in the area, stating, "I would've never dreamt that an alligator would be in this area." Williams acknowledged the nearby lakes but never expected to encounter such a situation in her neighborhood.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has not released any further details regarding the incident. The killing of the alligator was necessary to ensure public safety and prevent any further harm.

Authorities are likely conducting investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the presence of human remains and the alligator's involvement. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers posed by wildlife in Florida's waterways and the importance of remaining vigilant in such areas.
