Leftists Go NUTS After Dave Chappelle Wins Grammy For The Closer

This year, the Grammy for best comedy album went to Dave Chappelle for "The Closer", however, not everyone was celebrating the announcement.

In 2021, when Netflix released Chappelle's stand-up special, leftists reacted strongly to it, claiming it was "transphobic" and organizing sometimes violent protests over it.

Its not a shock that leftists criticized anyone who voted for "The Closer" and granted it the Grammy for best comedy album.

The Hollywood Reporter ran with a headline that proclaimed "Dave Chappelle Wins Grammy for Netflix Special Condemned for Being Transphobic." Audience mocked that title caliming that they weren't aware there was a Grammy award for "Netflix Special Condemned for Being Transphobic."

The Advocate's headline was blunt: "Dave Chappelle Receives Grammy for His Transphobic Netflix Special"

Zoe Rose Bryant, an entertainment journalist, expressed her opinion on Twitter that "the same industry thats patting itself on the back tonight for making Kim Petras the first trans woman to win pop duo/group performance at the #Grammys also gave Dave Chappelle another Grammy for his transphobic special 'The Closer' so its nice to see hypocrisy is alive & well."

Eric Degans, a television critic and media analyst for National Public Radio, tweeted his reaction to the 2021 Grammy Awards: "Wow. It's clear the Grammys don't care; they gave an award to Dave Chappelle's Netflix special which contains homophobic and transphobic messages, a year after giving one to Louis C.K., who admitted to harassing people. Sigh."

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K.'s nominations, saying that the organization has no control over which creators are voted for. He stated that it is not their job to evaluate a person's morality, but rather the quality of their art. Mason Jr. concluded that the decision for awards and nominations is left to the voters.

The news about "The Closer" caused a major Netflix showrunner to resign in opposition, leading the streaming service to suspend three workers, among them a trans employee. Furthermore, Netflix terminated the individual who had organized a walkout due to their disclosure of confidential material related to Chappelle's special.

Both the Associated Press and Variety retracted accusations that a Chappelle supporter was the perpetrator of the Netflix Walkout.

Chappelle declared I am not bending to anybody's demands." At the same time, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos also opposed taking down "The Closer," asserting that "content on screen doesn't directly translate to real-world harm."
