Former President Donald Trump is expected to face another indictment in the coming weeks, this time from Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis, according to Alina Habba, Trump's attorney and a supporter of his 2024 presidential campaign.
Habba made this statement during an interview with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. She suggested that Willis's recent actions, such as arranging for new PR photos, indicate her desire to make a name for herself by joining the ranks of what she considers to be corrupt prosecutors and attorneys general.
The indictment against Trump is the result of a two-and-a-half-year investigation into his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden. Willis briefly mentioned the indictment last week, stating, "We're ready."
When asked about Trump's response to the legal challenges he is facing, Habba referred to his previous statement after his arraignment on January 6th, where he expressed his belief that the ongoing legal actions against him are a distraction from the corruption within the Biden administration and their failed policies. Habba emphasized that Trump remains strong and pointed to recent polls showing him leading the pack of potential 2024 GOP candidates.
A recent Fox News poll indicated that Trump's popularity has increased since the indictment, with 56% of Republican primary voters preferring him over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who polled at 22%. This has raised concerns among some on the left who fear Trump could make a comeback in the 2024 race.
Habba argued that the relentless attacks against Trump demonstrate the fear his opponents have of him. She also highlighted his love for the country and his determination to continue fighting for it.
Currently, Trump is facing three indictments, including charges related to mishandling classified documents, hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, and alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The expected indictment from Georgia focuses on allegations that Trump violated state law by pressuring officials to investigate voter fraud.
Habba questioned the timing of the potential fourth indictment, suggesting that it is an attempt to interfere with the upcoming campaign. She claimed that Willis waited two years to bring the case forward in order to distract Trump and his legal team. However, Habba expressed confidence that Trump is prepared for the challenges ahead and will not be deterred.
