Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Vows To 'Start Slitting Throats On Day One' In 2024 Presidential Bid

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has vowed to take on the "deep state" and "start slitting throats on day one" if he is elected president in 2024, according to his remarks during a Q&A session at a campaign barbeque event in New Hampshire on Sunday.

DeSantis, known for his relentless pursuit of conservative policies in Florida, made the violent statement while addressing the crowd about his plans to confront entrenched officials in executive branch agencies. He stated, "Were going to have all of these deep state people, you know, we are going to start slitting throats on day one."

This rhetoric is not new for DeSantis, as he has previously used graphic imagery to describe his approach to tackling political opponents. Just last month, he expressed his intention to target officials in the Department of Defense, stating, "I think the idea that you take a flag [officer] or general officer who recently retired and put them as [secretary of defense], I think it is a mistake. You know, they may have to slit some throats."

DeSantis argues that his experience in Florida makes him better suited to dismantle entrenched power in Washington, adopting the rallying cry against the "deep state" initially popularized by former President Donald Trump.

However, despite his efforts, DeSantis remains a distant second to Trump in Republican primary polls. Trump's ability to capitalize on reactions to criminal indictments against him has contributed to his continued surge in popularity.
