Caitlyn Jenner continues to engage in a war of words with tennis legend Martina Navratilova over the participation of transwomen in women's sports.
Navratilova had criticized Jenner's interview with Lance Armstrong, where they discussed the issue, calling it hypocritical. In response, Jenner addressed Navratilova's comments in an exclusive interview with OutKick's Charly Arnolt, accusing the tennis champion of being a hypocrite herself.
Jenner expressed her disappointment with Navratilova's stance, stating, "I thought it was very unfortunate because, to be honest with you, shes against trans women competing in womens sports.
I thought how hypocritical of her to come out and kind of bash me and say I have no credibility on this subject." Jenner emphasized that she would not let Navratilova's comments go unchallenged, believing that her hypocrisy needed to be exposed.
Jenner also highlighted Navratilova's liberal mindset, pointing out her support for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who are actively advocating for the inclusion of trans women in Title IX.
Jenner questioned how Navratilova could claim to support women's sports while endorsing candidates who are pushing for policies that would allow biological men, or trans women, to compete against biological women. Jenner stated, "So, how can you be on the left and support protecting womens sports?"
Furthermore, Jenner reiterated her consistent stance on the issue, emphasizing her belief that trans women should not be allowed to compete in women's sports.
She drew on her own experiences as an Olympian and her personal journey as a transgender individual to assert her credibility in expressing her opinion. Jenner stated, "I have lived this experience obviously. I won the title as the greatest athlete in the world. And also, I was gender dysphoric my whole life... I have always been out to protect womens sports."
Jenner's interview with Arnolt shed light on the ongoing debate surrounding the participation of transwomen in women's sports. While Navratilova and Jenner hold opposing views on the matter, their exchange highlights the complexity of the issue and the need for thoughtful discussion.
