A Florida Police chief was called to the scene of a crime and saved the burglar after a homeowner shot him.
This shines light on a new issue, and the police chief has a warning for criminals in Florida. He says most of us are armed.
According to Fox News, One should expect that if you are brazen enough to enter into someones residence and it is not yours, with intent to commit an unlawful act, there may be repercussions, Haines City Police Chief Gregory Goreck said in a Friday press conference.
The police chief pointed out that most people in Polk County are armed. The implications of that warning were obvious.
After two suspects broke into his home, the homeowner fired shots. The homeowner allegedly got home to find the men inside his house. He hit one of the suspects, and they both fled his house. However, the police still went on the hunt. Using a canine unit, they could find the man that was shot nearby.
At that point, officers made sure that the suspect got medical attention. He was treated for multiple gunshot wounds. Fox News states they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect is 27-year-old Tyriek Washington. Hes currently in the Polk County Jail. Washington has previous charges of a home invasion. They could not find the second suspect and continued to search for him. He did have a concealed carry permit and gave officers his weapon willingly to support the investigation. Officers also made sure that the homeowner was in full compliance with the law, which he was. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This should serve as a warning to anyone that wants to commit crimes like this and a reminder of why we should always fight for our right to bear arms.
