A Republican candidate for Florida governor is turning to the dating app Tinder in an unconventional bid to reach young women voters.
James Fishback, a 31-year-old investment firm chief executive, announced the move on X, saying he had created a profile aimed at engaging younger female Floridians on issues like family formation and homeownership. According to Fox News, Fishback framed the outreach as part of a broader pro-family agenda, writing, "Ive joined @Tinder to meet young female voters where they are, and share my plan to make it easier for them to get married, buy a home, and raise a family."
He posted a screenshot of his profile featuring the prompt, "My hottest take is Florida should offer paid maternity leave to all moms." Less than an hour later, he followed up with a more lighthearted update about the apps limitations, posting, "i ran out of likes. could someone donate so i can get tinder plus?"
Fishback is seeking to replace term-limited Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, entering an already competitive primary field. He faces U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner and Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, all of whom are vying to carry forward Floridas conservative trajectory.
Positioning himself as a cultural conservative willing to confront the excesses of the online economy, Fishback has pledged to impose a substantial "sin tax" on OnlyFans content creators if elected. "Young women once aspired to be devoted mothers, doctors, lawyers, and nurses," James Fishback told Fox News Digital in a statement last month.
Fishback continued: "Today, young women are told by an online platform called OnlyFans that its morally right to sell nude photos of themselves to strangers on the internet. I will not tolerate this cultural degeneracy as Floridas next Republican Governor." His strategy underscores a broader debate within the GOP over how to defend traditional values in a digital age while appealing to younger voters who increasingly live their lives online.
