Independent journalist Nick Shirley finds himself under fire from the political left after shedding light on fraudulent activities in Minnesota.
According to Fox News, Shirley expressed his frustration, stating, "I think something like this would just be fraud as bad.' But no, now people are coming after me for exposing fraud. And who are all those people? They're leftists," during a preview of Outkick's "The Riley Gaines Show" podcast.
He further lamented the missed opportunity for unity, saying, "And it's just a moment where they could have really been like, 'Okay, you guys, let's come together. Let's tell everyone Fraud is bad. Let's crack down on the fraud.' Instead, they come after the person who is exposing the fraud."
Shirley's investigative work, which went viral, has sparked a wave of tips about alleged fraud nationwide, particularly concerning daycare centers. "The people have given me a mandate to expose more of the fraud, so I'll be exposing more," Shirley told Gaines, indicating his commitment to continue his investigative efforts.
The full conversation with Shirley is set to be released on Wednesday, with "The Riley Gaines Show" accessible on all major podcast platforms. Viewers can also find additional content on Gaines' YouTube page. Shirley's 42-minute expos on Minnesota daycare centers, which appeared inactive despite receiving substantial government funding, has garnered over 138 million views on X and prompted federal investigations, leading to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services freezing childcare payments in Minnesota.
Despite these developments, Shirley now faces criticism from legacy media outlets such as CBS News and CNN, which have questioned the credibility of his journalism.
