In a significant development, federal authorities have successfully thwarted a credible terrorist threat, apprehending four individuals linked to a radical pro-Palestinian extremist faction.
These suspects are accused of orchestrating a series of coordinated bombings in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. The FBI disclosed to Fox News Digital that the suspects identified themselves as affiliates of a radical splinter group of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), known for its pro-Palestinian, anti-law enforcement, and anti-government stance.
As reported by Fox News, the FBI revealed that the suspects were allegedly plotting to execute synchronized bombing attacks using improvised explosive devices across five distinct locations in Los Angeles. The arrests took place in Lucerne Valley, where the suspects were purportedly preparing to test these explosive devices.
Each of the four individuals now faces charges of conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.
In a related development, the FBI announced the arrest of a fifth individual in New Orleans, believed to be associated with the same TILF extremist group, for allegedly planning a separate attack. The TILF's social media presence, particularly on Instagram, indicates that its founding chapter is based in Los Angeles.
The group advocates for the liberation of "Turtle Island," a term used by some Indigenous groups to describe North America, from what they term the "illegal American empire." Their posts include calls to "Free Palestine. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico," and assert that "Freeing the world from American imperialism is the only way to a safe and peaceful future."
Attorney General Pam Bondi took to X to commend the collaborative efforts of the Department of Justice and the FBI in averting the alleged terror plot in California's Central District. She highlighted that TILF had also intended to target United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles.
Bondi expressed her gratitude, stating, "This was an incredible effort by our U.S. Attorneys Offices and the FBI to ensure Americans can live in peace. We will continue to pursue these terror groups and bring them to justice."
