NYC Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani Floats Arrests For ICE Agents (Video)

Zohran Mamdani, the incoming mayor of New York City, has stirred controversy with his recent remarks regarding the potential arrest of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

In a candid conversation with Jacob Soboroff, a Senior Political and National Reporter for MSNOW, Mamdani addressed his commitment to countering President Trump's immigration policies, particularly the mass deportation of illegal immigrants residing in the city.

During the interview, Soboroff pressed Mamdani on his stance that "no one is above the law," including ICE agents and even the President of the United States. Soboroff inquired whether the New York Police Department (NYPD) might arrest ICE agents for their conduct towards immigrants.

Mamdani responded, "My focus is for the NYPD to not be assisting ICE in their immigration enforcement and to actually be following the policies of sanctuary city law." He further elaborated, "I think if an ICE agent is breaking the law, then that is a law that they should be held accountable to."

According to Gateway Pundit, Mamdani's bold assertions extend beyond domestic issues. He has also expressed a willingness to arrest international figures such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, should they enter New York City. Mamdani stated, "Ive said time and again that I believe this is a city of international law, and being a city of international law means looking to uphold international law."

He emphasized the importance of honoring warrants from the International Criminal Court, mentioning both Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Despite Mamdani's declarations, Governor Kathy Hochul has acknowledged the limitations of his authority, noting that he lacks the power to execute such arrests. This raises questions about the practical implications of Mamdani's promises and the potential legal challenges that could arise from such actions.

Mamdani's stance reflects a broader debate on immigration enforcement and the role of local governments in upholding federal policies. His comments have sparked discussions on the balance between local autonomy and federal authority, particularly in sanctuary cities like New York.

As Mamdani prepares to assume office, the city awaits to see how his administration will navigate these complex legal and political landscapes.
