President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for Supreme Court Associate Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas to continue serving on the bench.

During an interview on Politicos The Conversation, Dasha Burns, Politicos White House bureau chief, inquired whether Trump would prefer to see either justice retire, allowing him the opportunity to appoint a younger conservative to the Supreme Court. Trump was unequivocal in his response, praising both justices as "fantastic" and asserting that they should remain in their positions.

According to the Western Journal, Burns posed the question, Do you want to see one of the justices on the Supreme Court retire so you can put in one more before the end of your term? Clarence Thomas is 77, she noted, adding, Samuel Alito is 75. Do you want one more on there? Trump replied, Uh, well, I hope they stay, cause I think theyre fantastic, OK? Both of those men are fantastic. The President also cautioned against the Democratic push to expand the court, a move he described as a "terrible thing" for the nation.

During his first term, Trump successfully appointed three justicesBrett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrettshifting the court towards a conservative majority. Justices Alito and Thomas have been pivotal in several rulings favorable to Trump, including granting him immunity for official acts during his presidency and endorsing his authority to deport Venezuelan nationals under the Alien Enemies Act.

Currently, the Supreme Court is deliberating on a case concerning Trumps executive order that seeks to eliminate birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants. Trump emphasized to Burns the necessity for the justices to rule in favor of his administration, arguing that the constitutional clause was never meant to extend citizenship to the offspring of wealthy or illegal immigrants.

The President's stance underscores his commitment to maintaining a conservative judiciary, which he views as essential to upholding traditional American values and legal interpretations. As the nation watches the unfolding judicial developments, the implications of these decisions will undoubtedly resonate across the political landscape.
