In a recent interview with the BBC, Kamala Harris hinted at the possibility of another presidential run in 2028.
During her conversation with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris suggested that she might once again seek the highest office in the land.
When asked about the prospect of a woman leading the White House within the lifetime of her nieces, Amara and Leela, Harris confidently responded, "For sure."
Kuenssberg pressed further, inquiring whether Harris herself could be that woman and if she had made any decisions regarding a future candidacy. Harris replied, "No I have not," but confirmed her commitment to public service, stating, "I'm not done. I have lived my entire career a life of service, and it's in my bones, and there are many ways to serve. I've not decided yet what I will do in the future, beyond what I'm doing right now."
According to The Post Millennial, Harris's comments come amid speculation about her political future, particularly after her previous presidential campaign ended in defeat to President Donald Trump in 2024. Her campaign, which lasted a mere 107 days, was initiated following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race.
Biden's decision to step aside came on the heels of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and an assassination attempt on President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.
Harris's remarks during the interview also touched on her disregard for polling data, which she claims has never influenced her political decisions. "I've never listened to polls," she asserted. "If I listen to polls, I would have not run for my first office or my second office, and I certainly wouldn't be sitting here in this interview." This perspective aligns with her current efforts to rebrand herself as a political outsider, a strategy she has pursued since her loss to Trump.
In the aftermath of her presidential bid, Harris has embarked on a book tour, promoting her latest publication. The tour, which features ticket prices in the hundreds of dollars, is part of her broader effort to engage with the American public. Despite declining to enter the California gubernatorial race, Harris has expressed a desire to travel the nation and listen to the concerns of its citizens.
As Harris contemplates her next steps, the political landscape remains uncertain. Her potential candidacy in 2028 could reshape the Democratic field, especially as she seeks to position herself as a leader capable of uniting a diverse electorate.
While her future plans remain undecided, Harris's commitment to public service and her determination to remain a prominent figure in American politics are evident. As the nation looks ahead, the question of whether Harris will once again vie for the presidency lingers, with her recent statements suggesting that the possibility is very much alive.
