In a recent interview on CNN, Texas Democrat State Representative Jolanda Jones made a controversial statement, expressing her aggressive stance towards Republicans.
Jones, known for her outspoken nature, discussed her strategy for dealing with Republican lawmakers and the Trump administration amidst the ongoing redistricting efforts by the Texas GOP.
Im from the hood, okay? So when a bully comes like, if there are no rules, you mentally have to figure it out. So, Donald Trump has changed things, and people trying to do whats always been done is not going to work. And I think that's why Democrats are losing black people, that's why they're losing poor people, because poor people, all they want is for us to fight. So if you hit me in my face, I'm not going to punch you back in your face. I'm going to go across your neck," Jones declared, as reported by The Post Millennial.
Jones' comments were made in response to a question about her approach to competing against the GOP in redistricting. She rejected the mantra, "When they go low, we go high," previously used by former First Lady Michelle Obama. Instead, Jones stated, "If Republicans go low, I'm going to the gutter."
The Texas representative has been known for her controversial remarks. She once compared the GOP's redistricting efforts to the Holocaust, a statement for which she later apologized, calling it a "mistake."
During her CNN appearance, Jones also claimed that people are "being wiped off of their Medicaid and Medicare" and accused Trump of "stealing our Social Security." These comments have sparked backlash, particularly in light of recent left-wing attacks and incidents of violence, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk, an Antifa-linked shooting of a police officer in Texas at an ICE facility, and several others.
Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for Turning Point USA, responded to Jones' comments by posting the clip on social media. "SICK. Democrat Texas State Rep Jolanda Jones says she's going to come for the 'necks' and 'wipe out' every Republican," he wrote. He further added, "This is the exact type of rhetoric that got Charlie murdered BY A SHOT TO THE NECK!!"
Jones' comments have sparked a debate about the appropriateness of such aggressive rhetoric in political discourse. While some see her words as a call to action, others view them as a dangerous escalation of political tensions.
Regardless, her remarks underscore the deep divisions and heightened tensions within the American political landscape.
