In a recent address to the United Nations, President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval of the global body's recognition of Palestine as a state, despite the ongoing hostage situation involving the Hamas terrorist organization and Israel.
This development follows the formal recognition of Palestine by several Western nations earlier this week.
As reported by American Military News, Trump delivered his speech at the United Nations General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, underscoring the necessity of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
He revealed his deep involvement in the process, stating, Unfortunately, Hamas has repeatedly rejected reasonable offers to make peace. We cant forget October 7, can we? Now, as if to encourage continued conflict, some of this body is seeking to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state.
The President cautioned that acknowledging a Palestinian state would be an excessive reward for Hamas terrorists, considering their ongoing atrocities against Israel. He stated, This would be a reward for these horrible atrocities, including October 7. Even while they refuse to release the hostages or accept a ceasefire.
Trump also expressed his belief that the protracted conflict between Israel and Hamas should have been resolved long ago. He urged those desiring peace to unite under a single message: Release the hostages now.
The President called on world leaders to expedite their efforts to broker a ceasefire agreement, negotiate peace in the Middle East, and secure the release of the hostages. He emphasized, We want all 20 back. We dont want to do four. We want them all back. And we want the, actually, 38 dead bodies back to whose parents came to me and they want them back. And they want them back very quickly.
Trump's remarks at the United Nations General Assembly were made in the wake of announcements by Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom that they would officially recognize Palestine as a state. France also joined these nations in recognizing a Palestinian state, as reported by The Associated Press.
When asked about the United Nations' official recognition of Palestine as a state, Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed the move as insignificant. Speaking to Fox News, Rubio stated, Its irrelevant. Its going to get a little bit of attention, but there is no Palestinian state. He further argued that a Palestinian state could not exist without Israel's participation and urged world leaders to focus on eliminating Hamas and ending the war in the Middle East.
Rubio's comments underscore the pivotal role the United States, under President Trump's leadership, plays in the quest for peace in the Middle East. He asserted, "When it comes to actually getting peace done, when it comes to actually stopping this, they are not going to any of these other countries. They are coming to us. They are going to President Trump."
This statement highlights the importance of the United States' involvement in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a task that requires steadfast commitment to traditional values and individual freedom.
