During a press briefing on Friday morning, Utah Governor Spencer Cox addressed the apprehension of the individual accused of attempting to assassinate Charlie Kirk.
Governor Cox, a Republican, assured the public that the suspect "will be held accountable" for his actions.
As reported by Breitbart, the governor took the opportunity to reflect on the broader issue of political violence that has increasingly plagued the United States. He emphasized the need for "more moral clarity right now," underscoring the distinction between rhetoric and physical acts of aggression.
"I hear all the time that words are violence. Words are not violence; violence is violence," Cox asserted, highlighting the importance of recognizing the true nature of violent acts. He further stated, "And there is one person responsible for what happened here, and that person is now in custody and will be charged soon and will be held accountable."
Earlier in the day, Governor Cox had confirmed the arrest of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the shooting incident involving Charlie Kirk, with a resolute declaration, "We got him." The arrest followed a tip-off from a family member of Robinson, who had confided in a family friend.
This friend then relayed the information to the Washington County Sheriffs Office, revealing that Robinson had either confessed or implied his involvement in the incident on the evening of September 11. This development underscores the critical role of community cooperation in ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.
