Donald Trump Jr. ignited a firestorm on Thursday with his candid remarks about progressive bastions such as Seattle and Portland, labeling them as craphole cities.
He clarified that his criticism was not aimed at the residents but rather at the Democratic leadership, which he accused of permitting crime, drug abuse, and homelessness to escalate unchecked.
In an appearance on Newsmaxs Carl Higbie FRONTLINE, Trump Jr. contended that even in the predominantly liberal Washington, DC, there is a quiet approval of President Trump's federal crime crackdown. He proposed that a similar strategy should be implemented in other cities governed by progressives that are grappling with public safety issues.
According to The Post Millennial, Trump Jr. stated, 93 percent [of DC] is hardened leftist. But theyre like, No, this is great. I feel safe. This is a wonderful thing. Lets do this. He further suggested, Maybe we should roll out the tour to Portland, Seattle, you know, the other what we call craphole cities of the country, not because theyre crap holes, but because Democrats made them so.
Trump Jr. highlighted street interviews in Washington, DC, indicating that even those with left-leaning tendencies have embraced the unprecedented deployment of federal agents and National Guard troops. This initiative, managed by the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, has resulted in over 1,000 arrests, along with the confiscation of numerous firearms and significant amounts of narcotics.
Despite local officials, including the citys mayor and attorney general, filing lawsuits to halt the crackdownarguing that crime rates were already under controlTrump Jr. dismissed these claims as demonstrably false.
He accused Democratic leaders of manipulating crime statistics while residents endure increasing carjackings, shootings, and drug-related violence. Everyones getting carjacked and murdered, Trump Jr. asserted. The Democrats are just changing their methodology for crime statistics. People know whats really happening on the streets.
Trump Jr. even suggested the possibility of a federal takeover of local police forces in the Pacific Northwest and other Democrat-led cities. If theyre loving it in DC, maybe its time to roll it out everywhere else Democrats have let crime run wild, he remarked.
His comments coincided with a visit to the West Coast by Thomas Homan, the White Houses Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, also known as the administrations border czar. This visit was part of a broader initiative against sanctuary cities. Attorney General Pam Bondi and other federal officials have also voiced opposition to local laws that obstruct cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
