Senator Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, is currently embroiled in a mortgage fraud investigation.
Despite his attempts to frame the investigation as a politically motivated attack, a "Deed of Trust" document has surfaced that lists his primary residence in Maryland, a crucial detail that bolsters the allegations against him.
Schiff recently appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" where he vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as "patently false." He stated, "They're patently false. And the President knows it. And the housing agency President's person [FHFA Director William] Pulte knows it. He's essentially doing the President's bidding against me, against Letitia James, against this person on the Federal Reserve."
He further claimed that the mortgage issue is a new weapon being used against critics of the administration. "But I've been very open about my residency both in California and in Maryland with my constituents and with the lenders. So there's no 'there' there."
However, according to RedState, not everyone is convinced by Schiff's denials. Christine Bish, an activist and congressional candidate based in Sacramento, has been instrumental in bringing the mortgage fraud allegations against Schiff to light.
She maintains that the allegations are "absolutely true," citing over 300 pages of documents, including notarized property records and tax forms, as evidence. Bish has also presented a "Deed of Trust" filed in 2011 that lists Schiff's Maryland property as his primary residence.
RedState's Mike Miller has reported that Bish has produced multiple Deeds of Trust that show Schiff refinanced his Maryland home in 2009 and 2013, each time listing it as his primary residence. The controversy arises from the fact that Schiff also allegedly declared his principal residence to be in California, as indicated by 2009 and 2011 financing documents for his Burbank condominium.
Adding fuel to the fire, RedState's Bonchie revealed a video in which Schiff insists that his California home "always has been and always will be" his primary residence, despite evidence to the contrary. This contradiction forms the basis of the federal criminal investigation by the U.S. Attorneys Office in Maryland for alleged mortgage fraud.
FHFA Director William Pulte, in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, suggested that Schiff may have engaged in a pattern of occupancy misrepresentation in "multiple instances" by allegedly falsifying bank documents and property records to secure more favorable loan terms.
President Trump has also weighed in on the controversy, labeling Schiff as a "scam artist" and suggesting that he should face prison time for his alleged actions. He wrote on his Truth Social media platform, "Adam 'Shifty' Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE! He falsified Loan Documents. Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!"
In response to the mounting allegations, Schiff has established a legal defense fund as he potentially faces serious charges. While Schiff is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the documents uncovered by Bish, coupled with his own contradictory statements, could potentially lead to significant legal repercussions.
