North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin have pledged to strengthen the ties between their nations, as reported by North Korean state media.

This development comes as Putin lauded the "bravery, heroism, and self-sacrificing spirit" of North Korean troops who have been fighting alongside Russian forces in the Kursk border region against Ukraine.

In a recent phone conversation with Putin, Kim Jong Un expressed North Korea's unwavering support for Russia's future actions. "North Korea would 'fully support all measures to be taken by the Russian leadership in the future, too,'" Kim affirmed.

According to American Military News, Russia's TASS news agency disclosed that Putin briefed Kim on his forthcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska. The meeting is anticipated to focus on urging Russia to cease its military engagement in Ukraine.

Since last fall, North Korea has reportedly deployed approximately 15,000 troops to Russia, as per South Korean estimates. Additionally, Pyongyang has supplied artillery and ballistic missiles to bolster the Russian campaign against Ukraine.

North Korea's involvement in the conflict was first acknowledged in late April, about six months after initial reports of their troops' presence emerged.

Ukrainian authorities have released documents, including handwritten letters and combat instructions, purportedly from North Korean soldiers who perished in battle.

In an effort to reach out to these troops, Ukraine has also broadcast messages in Korean, urging them to surrender. This situation underscores the complex geopolitical dynamics at play, as nations navigate alliances and conflicts on the global stage.
