Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is set to assume the position of Co-Deputy Director of the FBI next month.
This announcement marks a significant transition for Bailey, who has expressed his commitment to upholding the Constitution and ensuring the safety of the nation. "I am proud to announce I have accepted the role of Co-Deputy Director of the FBI. I extend my thanks to @POTUS and @AGPamBondi for the opportunity to serve in the mission to Make America Safe Again. I will protect America and uphold the Constitution," Bailey shared on X.
As reported by the Western Journal, Dan Bongino is currently serving as the deputy director of the FBI. The recent developments have raised questions about the division of responsibilities under the new leadership structure.
Last month, Bailey distanced himself from the Justice Department and Attorney General Pam Bondi concerning the handling of the Epstein files. The specifics of the roles within the FBI's new alignment remain unclear.
Bailey was previously considered by President Donald Trump for the role of attorney general, according to the Missouri Independent. A Fox News report highlighted that a senior administration official emphasized Trump's priorities, stating, "Trump wants to see bad guys prosecuted, illegals deported, and corrupt politicians held accountable."
The official further noted, "We need all hands on deck to accomplish all of these important goals." Bailey's appointment is seen as a strategic move to bolster the administration's efforts. "Andrew Bailey will serve as another set of credible, experienced hands to help Attorney General Bondi and FBI Director Patel carry out the Presidents mission," the official added.
FBI Director Kash Patel underscored the importance of attracting top talent to the agency, stating, "The FBI, as the leading investigative body of the federal government under the Department of Justice, will always bring the greatest talent this country has to offer in order to accomplish the goals set forth when an overwhelming majority of American people elected President Donald J. Trump again."
Attorney General Pam Bondi echoed this sentiment, expressing her enthusiasm for Bailey's new role. "I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Bailey as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI. He has served as a distinguished state attorney general and is a decorated war veteran, bringing expertise and dedication to service," Bondi remarked.
She further emphasized, "His leadership and commitment to country will be a tremendous asset as we work together to advance President Trumps mission."
Bailey is scheduled to begin his duties on September 8, as noted in a news release on his website. Reflecting on his tenure as Missouri's Attorney General, Bailey stated, "It has been a humbling privilege to serve as the 44th Attorney General of the State of Missouri, and I am forever grateful to the people of Missouri for the opportunity to represent our state and your families. My life has been defined by a call to service, and I am once again answering that call, this time at the national level. But wherever I am called, Missouri is and always will be home."
He extended his gratitude to President Trump and Attorney General Bondi, saying, "I extend my deepest gratitude to President Trump and U.S. Attorney General Bondi for the privilege to join in their stated mission to Make America Safe Again."
Bailey's transition to a national role underscores a broader commitment to conservative principles, focusing on law enforcement and national security. His leadership is anticipated to play a pivotal role in advancing the administration's objectives.
