Brit Hume Lets Loose On Putin: Calls Him A 'Fool' And 'Utter Failure'

In a candid assessment, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume did not hold back in his critique of Russian President Vladimir Putin, labeling him "a fool" and describing the invasion of Ukraine as an "utter failure.

".

Hume's remarks underscore the growing consensus that Putin's aggressive actions have backfired, leaving Russia isolated and burdened with significant costs.

President Donald Trump has consistently advocated for peace between Ukraine and Russia. On Sunday, he suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could potentially end the ongoing conflict by abandoning Ukraine's aspirations to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and relinquishing claims to Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

As reported by the Daily Caller, during an appearance on "Special Report with Bret Baier," Hume was asked about Trump's belief that even Putin could be persuaded to engage in peace talks. Hume responded by highlighting the day's events as evidence of Putin's "utter failure."

Hume elaborated on the consequences of Putin's invasion, noting that it has inadvertently strengthened Western alliances and expanded NATO. Despite the passage of more than two years, Russia has yet to secure full control over eastern Ukraine, a situation that has come at a tremendous cost.

"He confronts now a U.S. and Europe more united. He confronts an enlarged NATO. He tried to take over Ukraine in a week, and were two and a half years down the road, and he hasnt even conquered all of the eastern section of it, despite his staggering expenditure and great cost to his country," Hume remarked.

Hume further criticized Putin's decision to invade, calling it a grave miscalculation. "The man is a fool. He may be evil and cunning in some ways, but he made a very foolish mistake here, and, in the end, I think he will pay for it. But it may take a while. There may be considerable suffering yet," he stated.

In 2023, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin, accusing him of the unlawful deportation and transfer of children from Ukrainian territories under Russian control into Russia. These alleged crimes date back to at least February 24, 2022, the day Moscow launched its full-scale invasion.

Meanwhile, Putin has reportedly indicated a willingness to cease hostilities if Kyiv agrees to cede extensive areas in eastern Ukraine. The ongoing conflict has already resulted in the tragic loss of hundreds of thousands of lives from both nations.
