Tom Homan Draws The Line: Under Federal Control, D.C.s Sanctuary City Days Are Done!

During a segment on Fox News Channel's "The Story," border czar Tom Homan addressed the implications of President Donald Trump's federal intervention in Washington, D.C., particularly concerning the city's sanctuary status.

Homan clarified that the sanctuary city policies would not be upheld under the current federal oversight.

Host Martha MacCallum posed a question regarding the unique situation in Washington, D.C., where federal control intersects with the presence of the National Guard. "Its a sanctuary city like sanctuary cities across the country, but its unique in that it has federal control. Now youve got National Guard on the ground, side by side with ICE. Does that combination basically negate the sanctuary city status in Washington, D.C., at least for these 30 days, in terms of what you can do there, Tom?" she inquired.

According to Breitbart, Homan responded affirmatively, stating, "Yes, I think D.C. under federal control is not going to be a sanctuary city."

Homan elaborated on the collaboration between federal authorities and local law enforcement, emphasizing that criminal illegal aliens encountered in the city would be handed over to ICE. "Were working with the police hand in hand, and when we encounter a criminal, illegal alien, they will be turned over to ICE, and thats the way it should be," he asserted.

He further noted that while not all illegal aliens in D.C. are criminals, the focus would be on those posing a criminal threat. "The illegal alien criminal threat in D.C. is not going to be protected. Theres no sanctuary for these people in the city of D.C.," Homan concluded.

This approach aligns with a conservative perspective that prioritizes law enforcement and national security over sanctuary policies that may shield illegal immigrants from federal immigration laws.
