Watch: Democrat Rep. Sparks Outrage After Labeling ICE A Terrorist Organization

Democratic Congresswoman Delia Ramirez has sparked controversy by labeling the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency as a "terrorist organization.

".

Ramirez, who has represented Illinois's 3rd Congressional District since 2023, made these remarks during a speech at the Netroots Nations conference, a gathering known for its progressive activism.

As reported by Gateway Pundit, Ramirez declared, "Well Tom Homan, let me tell you all over the country we will to continue to stand up for our rights. We will continue to call out the terrorist organization that is ICE."

The Netroots Nations conference is organized by a non-profit that aims to equip progressive activists with the tools and connections necessary to advance their causes.

Ramirez's comments are consistent with her background, as she is often referred to as an "anchor baby," a term used to describe children born in the United States to parents who entered the country illegally. Her recent statements in Mexico City, where she expressed a stronger allegiance to Guatemala than to the United States, have further fueled the debate. "Im a proud Guatemalan before Im an American," she stated, prompting some to call for her denaturalization and deportation.

In response to such sentiments, the Department of Homeland Security invoked the words of President Theodore Roosevelt: "There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance."
