Hochul Draws A Line In The Sand: 'We Won't Let The FBI Hunt Down Texas Dems!

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has voiced her opposition to any potential actions by the FBI targeting the 50 Texas Democratic legislators who fled their state to avoid a vote on redistricting.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Weeknight," Hochul emphasized the importance of standing against what she perceives as an overreach of federal power.

In a conversation with co-host Alicia Menendez, the issue of federal involvement was raised, with Menendez noting, Just to underscore something Michael said, there is no federal crime that all of a sudden these agents are getting involved in. This prompted a discussion on the implications of potential FBI intervention.

According to Breitbart, Hochul expressed her respect for the FBI but questioned the prioritization of their resources. She stated, First of all, I have a lot of respect for the FBI, but I guarantee there are far more important pursuits that they should be engaging in, like human trafficking, breaking up drug cartels, and stopping terrorist attacks here in New York City.

Hochul further criticized the notion of using the FBI to pursue elected officials, describing it as an abuse of power. She remarked, So I think this is an abuse of the power of the FBI to direct them to go after duly elected officials in the United States of America.

Her comments underscore a broader concern about the preservation of democratic principles and the autonomy of state legislators. Hochul's stance highlights the ongoing debate over federal versus state authority, a topic that resonates deeply with those advocating for limited government and individual freedoms.
