United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is currently experiencing a significant surge in hiring, as revealed by ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons during an interview on Breitbart News Daily.
Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, the agency is actively seeking to bolster its ranks with highly qualified individuals, including former law enforcement officers, military veterans, and others eager to serve in federal law enforcement roles.
As reported by Breitbart, Lyons emphasized the challenges faced by the enforcement removal program during the previous administration, describing it as "decimated." He noted that recruitment efforts were severely restricted, leading to a thinning of their ranks.
However, with renewed direction from President Trump and Secretary Noem, ICE is now poised to recruit 10,000 additional agents and officers over the next year. Lyons stated, "Were going to go ahead and fill our ranks with the best and brightest former law enforcement, prior military, some veterans, anyone that wants to come out and be in federal law enforcement."
The agency is particularly interested in individuals who are committed to serving their country and making a tangible impact on national security. Lyons articulated the qualities they seek, saying, "We want someone that wants to serve their country, somebody that wants to make a difference, someone that wants to help protect this nation, help protect the homeland, someone thats motivated, dedicated, wants to get out there, be in law enforcement, serve their community, be a part of a large public safety push."
ICE is actively recruiting for various positions, including deportation officers and special agents for homeland security investigations. Lyons expressed the honor associated with these roles, stating, "It took a lot to become a deportation officer back in the day, were looking for people that want to do that job and work for special agent to the homeland security investigation side."
Additionally, the agency is seeking attorneys for the Office of Principal Legal Adviser, aiming to attract some of the brightest legal minds to serve the nation.
