U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro Announces ICE Crackdown In 'Sanctuary' Washington, DC (Video)

Jeanine Pirro, a former FOX News host and the current interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., has taken a decisive step in addressing illegal immigration within the nation's capital.

In a recent announcement, Pirro revealed her office's collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to identify and remove individuals unlawfully residing in the area who have become entrenched within the local system.

Pirro expressed her dismay at the efforts of the Washington, D.C. city council to obstruct such initiatives, describing the situation as "an outrage." She highlighted the fact that many of these individuals have managed to remain undetected due to the previous lack of inquiries into their immigration status.

According to Gateway Pundit, Pirro's new policy aims to verify the immigration status of all defendants entering the D.C. justice system, a move that aligns with President Trump's directive to "Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful."

This policy shift marks a significant departure from past practices, where illegal immigrants were processed as ordinary defendants, facing either conviction or acquittal without any scrutiny of their legal status. Pirro emphasized the importance of this change, stating, "We are now trying to identify those illegals who are currently burrowed in our criminal justice system, who've identified themselves either as citizens or individuals with actual legal status who do not have status or are illegal. Previously, there was no questioning them, and there was certainly no verification of that."

The collaboration with ICE is a critical component of this initiative, as it seeks to determine the status of individuals already within the system. Pirro noted, "[Were] working with ICE to identify those individuals already in the system that we can then find out from ICE what their status is. Previously, no one even asked. They would just literally go through the system and either be convicted and possibly go to jail and be found not guilty and be released. But the DC City Council has worked very hard to make sure that these individuals avoid any contact with ICE."

This development underscores a broader effort to challenge sanctuary city policies and ensure that the rule of law is upheld. By verifying the immigration status of defendants, Pirro aims to prevent illegal immigrants from overwhelming the D.C. justice system, thereby enhancing public safety and maintaining order. Her appointment to this role appears to be a strategic choice, given her commitment to addressing these pressing issues.
