Wasserman-Schultz's outrage seems selective, considering she showed no concern for the conditions under the Biden administration when illegal immigrants were held in arguably worse conditions, and yes, in cages. In 2023, under Biden's watch, people were seen crowded into a detention area in the sweltering heat of Ajo, Arizona.
"Right now in Ajo AZ Sector for the Border Patrol. Hundreds in custody on top of what was caught last night. Already getting reports of large numbers crossing and Border Patrol trying to respond. They are overwhelmed and this administration is letting this happen with no support!" reported a source at the time.
It's worth noting that this was a problem that President Donald Trump managed to solve, yet the Democrats continue to voice their complaints. The irony of this situation is not lost on the public, who are aware that these conditions existed under Biden's administration, yet the Democrats remained silent.
In addition to her comments on the use of cages, Wasserman-Schultz also expressed shock at the sanitary conditions, stating, "They brush their teeth where they poop, in the same unit." This statement was met with widespread amusement, as many pointed out that this is a common setup in bathrooms, regardless of their luxury level. It's both humorous and somewhat concerning that Wasserman-Schultz seems unaware that a sink/toilet combination unit is a standard feature in prisons and detention centers. This raises the question: why is she suddenly concerned about this now, with illegal immigrants, when she showed no such concern for American citizens in prisons?
