New York City's electorate appears to be veering towards a self-proclaimed communist, who advocates for the "seizure of the means of production" and the defunding of the police in the name of "queer liberation," as their next mayor.
The potential consequences of such a choice are, to say the least, concerning. However, it seems that some lessons are only learned through experience, and even then, they may not be fully grasped.
According to RedState, Zoharn Mamdani, the candidate in question, recently boasted about having a mere $2,000 in his bank account. The wisdom of entrusting the management of one of the world's largest economies to an individual who appears to struggle with personal financial management is questionable at best. Mamdani, who is likely supported by his affluent parents, also has some controversial views on the Fourth of July.
Mamdani's Independence Day message was as follows: "America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home. Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America."
Such messages, which often contain veiled criticisms of America, have become a predictable trope among left-wing politicians. Any praise they do offer is invariably undermined by subsequent expressions of disapproval. In this instance, Mamdani suggests that America is "contradictory" and "unfinished."
However, this is a misrepresentation. America consistently serves as a beacon of freedom, contributing more to global welfare and aiding more individuals than any other nation in history. The existence of imperfections does not equate to contradiction. Despite the assertions of left-wing ideologues who thrive on division, America remains a land of opportunity and equality for all. It is not an incomplete project requiring a communist to "protect and deepen our democracy."
In response to Mamdani's post, one Twitter user retorted: "Stop lying. Every organization you're part of wants to bring down this country and destroy everything that makes it great. You don't belong anywhere near the Mayors office."
It's worth noting that Mamdani has only been an American citizen for six years, yet he presumes to dictate what America is and how it should be. This level of arrogance is startling, particularly from an individual whose only employment history appears to be a failed rap career. His alleged false claim of African American heritage to gain admission to Columbia University further undermines his credibility.
Mamdani's track record paints a picture of a dishonest, antisemitic opportunist who has even defended members of Al Qaeda. He lacks expertise and ability, and his views do not represent America. Given New York City's significant economic influence, his potential leadership could spell disaster for both the city and the nation. His Fourth of July post serves as further evidence of the flaws in his candidacy.
