Democratic strategist James Carville recently expressed his views on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," describing the Big, Beautiful Bill as a potential "mass extinction event" for the Republican Party.
He predicted that this legislation could lead to a significant loss of Republican seats in Congress during the upcoming midterm elections.
According to Breitbart, Carville emphasized the unity within the Democratic Party, stating, "Were aint playing possum now. And I like with the unified party, every Democrat voted against this. Every Democrat, regardless of the ideology or the or their regional. We can all rally around this, and we can run on this single issue all the way to 2026. And Paul is right, were going to pick up more than 40 house seats." This statement underscores the Democrats' strategic focus on leveraging this issue to their advantage.
Carville further highlighted the potential impact of the bill on voter sentiment, citing polling data from New Jersey. He remarked, "I can tell you what the poll says today, the Democrat in New Jersey is up 20 points. Thats in a state that we won by two and a half or 2 in 2021." He suggested that political analysts might eventually view this as a pivotal moment, noting, "I mean, you know, political anthropologists are going to look back at this and its going to be called a mass extinction event because there are a lot of them are going to be extinct."
As the Democrats prepare to capitalize on this issue, Carville confidently asserted, "When people go to the polls voting for this, I promise you, I promise you, this thing is really, its like 25, 26 points underwater already.
And we havent even started our education program." This statement reflects the Democrats' belief in the bill's unpopularity and their readiness to educate voters on its implications.
