In a tragic turn of events, a woman has succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent attack in Boulder, Colorado.
The incident, which has been classified as an act of terrorism, involved an anti-Semitic assailant targeting a group of Jewish individuals with Molotov cocktails and a homemade flamethrower. The charges against the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, have now been escalated following the death of 82-year-old Karen Diamond.
The Boulder County district attorneys office confirmed that Diamond "died tragically as a result of the severe injuries that she suffered in the attack" on June 1.
According to WND, prosecutors in the predominantly liberal state have intensified the legal proceedings against Soliman. District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, "Our office will fight for justice for all the victims, their loved ones, and the community." Soliman is now facing a litany of charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, 52 counts of attempted first-degree murder, and numerous other charges related to assault and the use of incendiary devices.
If convicted, he could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Furthermore, the federal government has issued a 12-count indictment against him, citing violations of federal hate crime laws and the use of fire in the commission of a felony.
The attack occurred during a "Run for Their Lives" demonstration, which aimed to advocate for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. Court documents reveal that Soliman approached the marchers armed with multiple Molotov cocktails and a backpack sprayer filled with a flammable substance.
He reportedly hurled two of the explosives while shouting, "Free Palestine." A manifesto found later revealed his views, describing Israel as a "cancer entity." Notably, Soliman was residing in the United States illegally at the time of the attack.
