Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has expressed her intense displeasure with President Donald Trump's decision to deploy National Guard troops to Los Angeles in response to escalating illegal immigration protests.
Her frustration is compounded by memories of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, during which she, as Speaker, failed to secure the Capitol with adequate police and National Guard presence, despite President Trump's offer of 10,000 troops.
According to Gateway Pundit, Pelosi's ire was evident during a conversation with Matt Berg from Crooked Media, where she did not hold back her criticism. The 85-year-old lawmaker, known for her Catholic faith and as a grandmother of nine, was quoted saying, "Its overwhelming because [the insurrectionists] want to put a bullet in my F-word head and they were going to hang the Vice President of the United States and this guy is not sending in the National Guard, and then lying about it to the public."
Her remarks highlight her concern over what she perceives as hypocrisy in Trump's actions.
The protests in Los Angeles, which erupted following a series of ICE raids, prompted President Trump to assert that the city would have faced severe destruction without the National Guard's intervention. However, Pelosi and others have challenged this claim, noting that the protests were localized and did not impact the majority of the city's residents. "Trumps actions have 'inflamed the conditions on the ground,'" Pelosi remarked, further criticizing the President's approach as unconstitutional.
Pelosi's reflections on the Capitol riot reveal a sense of accountability, as she acknowledged her role in the security failures of that day. Despite this, her primary focus remains on what she views as the President's inconsistent application of National Guard deployments.
Her comments underscore a broader concern about the President's adherence to constitutional norms, a point she emphasized by stating, "I dont think theres any mystery to the fact that the President is not acting in the constitutional way, in so many other respects, not just this."
As the political landscape continues to be shaped by these events, Pelosi's statements reflect ongoing tensions between her and President Trump, particularly regarding issues of national security and executive decision-making.
