WATCH: Minneapolis Goes NUTS As Crowd Mistakes Fed Bust For ICE Raid!

In a recent surge of liberal activism, the left has once again ignited a wave of protests, reminiscent of past movements such as Occupy and Black Lives Matter.

This time, the focus of their ire includes Israel, Tesla, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to RedState, a recent incident in South Minneapolis near Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant exemplifies the escalating tension. A group of federal agents gathered in the area, sparking rumors of an ICE raid. This led to a large crowd assembling to obstruct the agents' activities, necessitating the intervention of local law enforcement for crowd control. However, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey later clarified that the operation was unrelated to immigration enforcement.

Mayor Frey stated, "Im aware of the operation federal agencies carried out today near Lake and Bloomington. While were still gathering details, this incident was related to a criminal search warrant for drugs & money laundering and was not related to immigration enforcement. No arrests were made." Despite this clarification, the crowd had already reacted, resulting in a chaotic scene.

WCCO reported that the crowd resorted to throwing objects at law enforcement officers. "The crowd moved whatever they could in the path of officers and deputies as they escorted federal agents down Lake Street. Some threw garbage cans, and some even threw tires. WCCO's crew at the scene saw pop bottles and bricks hurled at law enforcement and some responded with force," the report stated. The situation escalated to the point where pepper spray was used to control the crowd.

Investigative reporter Nick Shirley captured the unfolding chaos, documenting the crowd's misguided attempts to prevent the police from allegedly detaining immigrants. However, the operation was, in fact, a large drug bust conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local police.

Homeland Security released a statement describing the operation as "a groundbreaking criminal operation today Minnesota's first under the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) umbrella," marking "a new chapter in how we confront complex, multidimensional threats. From drug smuggling to criminal labor trafficking, this operation showcases the breadth of our collective missions and the strength of a united front."

Despite the clarification from local police and Mayor Frey, the question arises as to why such clarification should be necessary. The assumption that law enforcement actions should be obstructed, including those involving ICE, poses a significant risk to the safety of law enforcement officers.

The demonization of ICE and federal agents by Democrats is seen as a contributing factor to the escalating tension. The Acting ICE Director explained that ICE agents were wearing masks due to threats and doxxing, with even their families being targeted.

The need for a shift in perspective is clear. The assumption that all law enforcement actions are inherently negative and warrant obstruction is not only misguided but also dangerous. It is essential to respect the role of law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order, and to understand that not all operations are immigration-related. The incident in Minneapolis serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of misinformation and hasty reactions.
