The White House recently hosted "National Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day," providing a unique opportunity for children of White House journalists and staff to engage with the administration.
The event, held in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, saw White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fielding a series of charming inquiries from the young attendees about President Donald Trump.
As reported by RedState, the questions ranged from the whimsical to the insightful. One shy participant, through her mother, inquired, "She wants to know if President Trump likes to give hugs." Leavitt responded affirmatively, noting, "I have seen him give many hugs to children and his family and our beautiful First Lady (Melania Trump). So, yes. I do think he likes to give hugs."
The children also probed into the President's culinary preferences, with Leavitt revealing, "Probably steak," as his favorite food. The lighthearted atmosphere continued with a question about Trump's preferred ice cream, to which Leavitt humorously replied, "I have seen the president eat ice cream sundaes before with chocolate sauce and some toppings too. Raise your hand if you like ice cream sundaes." This prompted an enthusiastic response from the young audience.
A particularly amusing question came from a young girl who asked, Which is Donald Trumps favorite president, besides himself? Leavitt speculated, "Because it would be, probably himself. Perhaps he would say George Washington. I know he speaks very highly of George Washington, who was of course, the first president of our great country." She added that Washington's portrait prominently hangs in the Oval Office.
President Trump himself joined the festivities on the South Lawn, delighting the children with his signature dance moves. First Lady Melania Trump also participated, engaging in arts and crafts with the children, decorating flags to commemorate the day.
Her involvement underscored her commitment to America's youth, a priority during her tenure as First Lady. Videos capturing these interactions have since circulated online, showcasing the warmth and accessibility of the First Family during this special event.
