The recent revelation that President Joe Biden is grappling with stage 4 prostate cancer has reignited discussions about the mainstream media's handling of his health issues during his presidency.
On Sunday, Biden, now 82, disclosed that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that has metastasized to his bones. This announcement has prompted a renewed examination of how the media has historically downplayed concerns about Biden's physical and mental well-being, including their dismissive response to his 2022 claim of having cancer.
According to Western Journal, Biden previously attributed his cancer to environmental pollution from oil refineries near his hometown. "And guess what? The first frost, you knew what was happening. You had to put on your windshield wipers to get, literally, the oil slick off the window," Biden remarked.
He further stated, "Thats why I and so damn many other people I grew up (with) have cancer and why can for the longest time, Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation." At that time, the White House and its media allies quickly clarified that Biden was referencing a minor skin cancer he had removed prior to his presidency.
In July 2023, Biden faced ridicule on social media for asserting that his administration had "ended cancer as we know it." The following year, in July 2024, Frank Biden suggested that his brother had withdrawn from the presidential race due to a potentially terminal illness. "Selfishly, I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left in our lives," Frank shared with CBS News.
However, a source countered this claim, arguing that Frank lacked credibility due to his struggles with alcoholism and his lack of recent communication with the President. "Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasnt spoken to his brother, the President, in weeks," the source told CBS News. "What he said about President Bidens health being a factor in his decision is completely untrue."
The media swiftly dismissed speculation that Biden's decision to exit the presidential race, just months before Election Day, was linked to his health. While it is unfortunate that Biden is facing a severe cancer diagnosis with a grim prognosis, the media's failure to thoroughly investigate his 2022 cancer claim and Frank Biden's 2024 comments reflects a broader pattern of neglect. The health of the American president transcends partisan lines, as it holds significant implications for national security and global stability.
The media's consistent obfuscation and omission regarding Biden's health highlight the institution's deteriorating credibility and the public's growing distrust. Biden's cancer diagnosis serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences had he won re-election, leaving the nation under the leadership of Kamala Harris. This scenario underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in media reporting, particularly when it concerns the health of the nation's leader.
