In a recent televised address, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched a scathing attack on the United States and its former President, Donald Trump.
Khamenei's vitriolic rhetoric, which included labeling Trump a liar and a disgrace to the American people, was punctuated by the regime's infamous chant, "Death to America."
The speech, broadcasted on Iran's state-run Channel 1, was met with fervent approval from the crowd, who repeatedly echoed the chant, along with "Death to England" and "Death to Israel." According to Breitbart, Khamenei accused U.S. leaders of exploiting their military power to incite conflict.
"Some of the things the U.S. President said in his recent visit to the region are not even worthy of a response," Khamenei asserted, as per a MEMRI translation of the broadcast. He continued, "The level of the things he said is so low that it shames the speaker himself as well as the American people." The crowd responded with applause and renewed anti-American chants.
Khamenei then turned his ire towards Trump, who had recently visited the Middle East, accusing him of deceitfully advocating for peace through strength. "Trump said that he wanted to use power for peace. He is lying," Khamenei declared, prompting the crowd to chant "Death to America" several times in unison.
Despite Iran's notorious record of instigating terrorism across the Middle East, Khamenei attempted to shift the blame onto the U.S., accusing it of causing regional bloodshed. He claimed, "[Trump] and other senior officials in the American administration have used power to perpetrate a massacre in Gaza, to stir up war wherever they could, and in order to support their mercenaries."
Khamenei then questioned the U.S.'s commitment to peace, asking, "When have they ever used power for peace?" He vowed that Iran would continue to bolster its power in defiance of U.S. pressure, stating, "We will increase our power and the power of our country every day whether the enemies like it or not, [as Allah wills]."
The Supreme Leader further demanded the complete expulsion of the United States from the Middle East. "By the efforts of the nations of the region, America should leave the region, and leave it will," he insisted.
Khamenei's speech also contained extreme rhetoric against Israel, which he referred to as a "lethal cancerous tumor" that "has to be uprooted, and it will be uprooted for certain." The crowd echoed his sentiments with force, chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" several times during the broadcast.
This speech underscores Iran's persistent hostility towards the United States, even as the Trump administration sought to negotiate a settlement with Tehran on nuclear and regional de-escalation efforts. Meanwhile, Republican lawmakers, such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), are urging the administration to demand that Iran fully relinquish its uranium enrichment capacity.
Sen. Cruz recently warned of the threat posed by Khamenei and his regime to U.S. national security. He criticized the Biden administration's appeasement strategy and claimed that the Iranian leader was actively attempting to "murder" President Trump. "These are not people who can be trusted, which is why the objective must be full dismantlement, it must be the centrifuges disassembled, destroyed, taken out," he stated.
Khamenei's renewed personal attacks on President Trump and his amplification of calls for America's destruction indicate that anti-Americanism remains a central tenet of Iran's ideological platform. With chants of "Death to America" broadcast nationwide and direct accusations leveled at the U.S. President, Khamenei's latest tirade serves as a stark reminder of the Iranian regime's unwavering hostility and violent rhetorica message that reverberates far beyond Tehran's borders.
