Former Governor Launches BOMBSHELL Bid For Congress!

Paul LePage, the former governor of Maine, has officially filed the necessary paperwork to enter the race for Maines 2nd Congressional District, a seat currently held by Democrat Rep.

Jared Golden.

The Federal Election Commission's website now features a listing for "Paul LePage for Congress," dated May 4, 2025, and identifies the "LEPAGE VICTORY FUND" as an affiliated entity.

As reported by Breitbart, this development follows an announcement by David Whitney, a Republican National Committee member, who took to social media to reveal that LePage would soon declare his candidacy for Congress. Brent Littlefield, a strategist working with LePage, hinted at forthcoming details, stating there would be "more to say tomorrow."

The Bangor Daily News highlighted that LePage is poised to enter a highly competitive race, with Golden contemplating a gubernatorial bid to succeed Maine's Democrat Governor Janet Mills, who is term-limited. Golden's potential departure could significantly tilt the odds in favor of Republicans, given the absence of a strong Democratic contender.

LePage's political journey has seen him previously serve two terms as Maine's governor. In July 2021, he announced his intention to run for governor again in 2022. However, he was defeated by Governor Mills in the November 2022 election, where Mills secured 376,934 votes, accounting for 55.7 percent, while LePage garnered 287,304 votes, or 42.4 percent, according to the New York Times. With the political landscape in Maine potentially shifting, LePage's entry into the congressional race could prove pivotal for the Republican Party's efforts to reclaim the district.
