In a recent conversation with Fox News' Lara Trump, Elon Musk revealed a significant alignment with President Donald Trump on various issues, estimating their agreement at around 80%.
During the interview, Musk discussed his rapport with the President and his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emphasizing their shared perspectives on government waste and adherence to the rule of law.
According to Mediaite, Musk expressed a personal connection with President Trump, stating, "I do consider the President a friend. I think he considers me a friend and, you know, we get along very well." He further elaborated on their common ground, noting, "I believe if you ask us both the same set of questions in two different rooms, 80% of the time we come up with the same answer."
This camaraderie has been evident since Musk took the helm at DOGE in January, where he has enacted substantial reductions across federal agencies, resulting in significant layoffs and the discontinuation of several long-standing programs.
These actions have drawn criticism from those who argue that essential services, such as public housing and government healthcare, have been adversely affected. Addressing the backlash, Musk contended that both he and President Trump have been targets of "propaganda" efforts. "It is disappointing how well propaganda works," Musk remarked. "If you repeat a lie you know, the sort of 'hes a Nazi' lie enough times, some people actually believe it, especially people that still believe the legacy news."
He continued to assert the effectiveness of their initiatives at DOGE, suggesting that the criticism is a testament to their success. "They are doing character assassination. It shows that if what we were doing at DOGE was not effective, they wouldnt care. But it is effective. And thats why theyre trying every angle to put pressure on me and DOGE to stop fixing the government."
Lara Trump aptly summarized the situation as "Death by a thousand cuts." Musk is anticipated to step down from his position at DOGE later this month.
