WATCH: Trump's Gives UNEXPECTED Take On Third Term Speculation!

In a recent interview, former President Donald Trump dismissed conjecture about his potential pursuit of a third term in office.

Instead, he emphasized his commitment to a robust four-year term and his intention to pass the baton to another Republican.

According to The Post Millennial, the speculation was sparked when Kristen Welker of Meet the Press noted that the Trump Organization was marketing merchandise emblazoned with "Trump 2028." She questioned whether Trump was seriously contemplating a third term, a move that would contravene the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, or if it was merely a political maneuver.

Trump responded, I will say this, so many people want me to do it. Ive never had requests so strong as that, but its something that, to the best of my knowledge, youre not allowed to do. He further added, I dont know if thats constitutional that theyre not allowing you to do it, but there are many people selling the 2028 hat. But this is not something Im looking to do. Im looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody, ideally a great Republican, to carry it forward. I think were going to have four years, and I think four years is plenty of time to do something really spectacular.

Welker highlighted that the Constitution indeed forbids a third term, but suggested that some of Trumps allies were exploring legal avenues to make it possible. Obviously, the biggest way would be the constitutional amendment, she said. Trump interpreted this as a compliment, stating, Thats because they like the job Im doing.

When queried about whether anyone had formally proposed a plan for a third term, Trump clarified, Well, in the capacity of being a big supporter, many people have said different things, but Im not looking at that.

Trump's influence on the Republican Party and the nation was acknowledged by Welker. In response, Trump referred to his political movement, MAGAMake America Great Again, as The greatest political movement in history. He expressed confidence that the movement could continue without him at the helm, citing the strength of the party and its leaders.

Trump further commented on the Democratic Party, stating, I cant name one Democrat. I look at the Democratstheyre in total disarray. They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other dayshes definitely a low IQ person. They said, Shes the future of the party. I said, 'You have to be kidding.'

Trump also criticized former President Joe Biden and other senior Democratic leaders, labeling Biden as grossly incompetent." He added, "I watched Bernie Sandershes a nut job, but hes still sharp. Hes sharp, hes the same guy he was. He hasnt gone down, but Biden is really the worst thing to happen to old people.

When asked about his potential successor as the leader of the Republican Party, Trump refrained from making any predictions but praised Vice President JD Vance for his excellent work. It could very well be, Trump said when asked if Vance would be at the top of the list. I dont want to get involved in that. I think hes a fantastic, brilliant guy. Marcos greattheres a lot of them that are great. I also see tremendous unity. But certainly, youd say that somebodys the VPif that person is outstanding, I guess that person would have the advantage. But I think the other people would all stay in unbelievably high positions. But it could be that hed be challenged by somebody. We have a lot of good people in this party.

These comments follow Trump's controversial remarks in March, where he did not dismiss the idea of a third term. In a phone interview with NBC News, he said, A lot of people want me to do it, referring to allies who support extending his time in office. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, its very early in the administration.

Im focused on the current, adding, I like working. When pressed about whether he was joking, Trump replied, Im not joking, though he added, It is far too early to think about it.
