In a shocking development, the Virginia Department of Corrections has reported a violent incident involving members of the notorious MS-13 gang, a group designated as a terror organization by the Trump administration.
The altercation occurred on Friday morning at Wallens Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap, where correctional officers were attacked by inmates, most of whom are illegal aliens, according to multiple sources.
The attack unfolded around 9:45 a.m. when six inmates, five of whom are affiliated with the infamous El Salvadoran gang, orchestrated a premeditated assault, as detailed by the Virginia Department of Corrections. Chad Dotson, the Director of VADOC, expressed his concerns in a statement, emphasizing, Five of the individuals responsible for this senseless attack should never have been in the country in the first place.
As reported by RedState, the sixth inmate involved in the attack is a U.S. citizen serving a sentence for second-degree murder. The MS-13 members have been convicted of various violent crimes, including rape and murder.
Dotson further highlighted the daily risks faced by correctional officers, stating, Every single day, our officers put their lives on the line to ensure public safety for the more than 8.8 million people across the Commonwealth. This attack is an example of the dangers they face when they show up to work every day. Our officers are heroes and I commend the team at Wallens Ridge for their swift response.
In terms of the victims' conditions, it is fortunate that none of the injuries sustained were fatal. Five officers required medical attention at external hospitals following the incident. Of these, three officers, including two who suffered minor injuries during the response, have since been discharged. The remaining two officers are still hospitalized but are reportedly in stable condition.
