Actor Jon Voight is poised to unveil a proposal aimed at aligning Hollywood more closely with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, as he prepares to present his plan to President Donald Trump.
Voight, alongside his manager Steven Paul, intends to introduce a strategy next week designed to invigorate the U.S. film and television sector.
As reported by The Daily Beast, Voight and Paul are set to discuss potential modifications to film tax credits, tax codes, job training, and infrastructure investments, all with the goal of retaining film production within the United States. Paul emphasized the necessity of federal tax incentives, stating, Its important that we compete with whats going on around the world so there needs to be some sort of federal tax incentives.
President Trump has appointed Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson as "special ambassadors" to Hollywood, a move that underscores his commitment to revitalizing the industry. Despite not informing Gibson of his appointment in advance, the actor stands to benefit from his association with the MAGA movement, with reports suggesting his gun rights may be restored following a 2011 domestic violence misdemeanor conviction.
President Trump expressed his enthusiasm for the appointments, declaring it his "honor" to designate these individuals as envoys to California's entertainment industry. He articulated his vision, stating, They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACKBIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!
Trump further asserted that these ambassadors would be instrumental in ushering in a new "Golden Age of Hollywood," reflecting the broader aspirations for the nation.
