In yet another instance of judicial overreach, a federal judge has intervened to obstruct President Trump's efforts to exercise his constitutional authority.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson has issued a ruling that prevents the Trump Administration from dismissing employees at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a regulatory body conceived by Senator Elizabeth Warren. Furthermore, the administration is prohibited from accessing the agency's computer systems.
According to the Associated Press, Judge Berman Jackson voiced her apprehension that officials were not adhering to her prior directive, which maintained the CFPB's operations pending a decision on a lawsuit aimed at preserving the agency. A hearing has been set for April 28, where officials will provide testimony.
As reported by the Gateway Pundit, this is not the first time Judge Jackson has thwarted the administration's attempts to dismantle the CFPB, a move that was subsequently overturned by the DC Circuit Court of Appeals.
The CFPB, a brainchild of Warren during her tenure as a law professor, was brought into existence by the DoddFrank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in 2010. Warren was later appointed by President Obama as an advisor to establish the bureau, which has since become a contentious entity, often criticized by conservatives for its expansive regulatory reach.
In February, following the Trump administration's efforts to significantly reduce the CFPB's influence, Judge Berman Jackson intervened to halt the mass layoffs and mandated the preservation of all agency data and records.
Her actions have been perceived by many as an overstep, with critics arguing that she is undermining the executive branch's authority. The Gateway Pundit has previously highlighted her as one of the judges who consistently challenge the administration's policies.
Judge Berman Jackson's history of rulings against Republicans and Trump supporters has not gone unnoticed. Her decisions have sparked calls for her impeachment, notably from conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, who in 2020 criticized her for what he described as a pattern of lawlessness.
