In a recent Oval Office meeting with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, President Trump made a comment that prompted a swift response from CNN anchor Dana Bash.

The veteran journalist felt compelled to assert on-air that CNN does not harbor any animosity towards the United States, a claim made by President Trump during the meeting.

According to RedState, Bash was seeking input from Jeff Zeleny, CNN's Chief National Affairs Correspondent, on alleged "misinformation" shared during the press conference when she took a moment to address President Trump's remark. "Before I get to you, I just want to say for the record, since we heard President Trump say in the Oval Office that CNN hates our country," Bash stated. "CNN does not hate our country."

Bash's declaration, which she felt should be self-evident, came after 32 years of service at the network. She recognized President Trump's comment as a rhetorical device, stating, "I see a rhetorical device in him trying toto say such a thing.

The perception that CNN is anti-American is not new, particularly among conservatives, especially when their preferred candidate is not in the White House. During Trump's tenure, the network's reporting has been accused of being persistently biased and overly critical of American policies, values, and leadership. This perceived bias seemed less evident during Joe Biden's administration, with critics noting CNN's apparent lack of interest in the numerous scandals that marked Biden's four years in office.

RedState reporter Teri Christoph highlighted an example of this perceived bias, noting that CNN's Chief White House Correspondent, Kaitlan Collins, was noticeably absent from the briefing room for four years, only to reappear on the day of Trump's second inauguration. During the meeting with Bukele, Trump criticized Collins, stating that "nobody watches you anymore" and "you have no credibility."

President Trump's comments during the meeting extended beyond Collins. He and several officials, including President Bukele, criticized the American legacy media for their lack of coverage on the secure border, a topic of significant interest to a large portion of the population.

Bukele praised Trump's border policy, stating, "What you're doing with the border is remarkable. It's dropped, what, 95%?" Trump corrected Bukele, stating that the decrease was actually 99.1%. Bukele then questioned why these figures were not being reported by the media.

Trump responded by criticizing CNN, stating, "Well, they get out with the fake news, you know, like CNN. CNN over here doesnt want to put them out because they dont like putting out good numbers." He then added, "I think they hate our country, actually.
