Pollster Frank Luntz has a history of making questionable statements, but his recent remarks about Senator Cory Booker's lengthy filibuster have certainly raised eyebrows.
Luntz's assertion that Booker's actions "may have changed the course of political history" seems exaggerated, even by his standards.
According to Gateway Pundit, during an appearance on NewsNation, Luntz praised Booker's marathon speech, which set a new record for the longest floor speech in Senate history. He stated, "I want to emphasize what Cory Booker did over the last 24 hours may have changed the course of political history. I watched a lot of it. I listened to words.? I listened to phrases."
Luntz suggested that Booker's speech resonated with Americans amid the Trump administration's contentious policies, claiming, "He struck the kind of tone that grassroots Democrats are looking for. He gave them a reason to fight. He gave them a reason to stand up and say, this is my country too."
While Luntz acknowledged that Republicans might dismiss Booker's actions as "nonsense," he argued that the senator's message was directed at all Americans. "What I saw over the last 25 hours absolutely blew me away," Luntz remarked, emphasizing the impact he believed Booker's speech had.
Despite Luntz's enthusiasm, the likelihood of Booker's filibuster leaving a lasting impression on the political landscape remains doubtful. The spectacle may soon fade from public memory, with Luntz's comments appearing overly optimistic. Nonetheless, the event highlights the ongoing political tensions and the diverse perspectives within the American political arena.
