Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) recently appeared on MSNBCs The Rachel Maddow Show to discuss her initiative aimed at countering what she perceives as a looming "dictatorship" under President Donald Trump.

Jayapal's efforts focus on educating Americans through what she terms a "resistance lab," designed to prepare citizens to safeguard democracy.

According to Breitbart, Jayapal expressed concerns about the Trump administration's alleged disregard for judicial rulings, emphasizing the critical role of citizens in defending democratic principles. She stated, It appears that the Trump administration is willing to ignore judicial decisions and so that brings us to you in this room. It brings us to the people that is really, the bulwark, the wall against the crumbling of democracy.

During the interview, host Rachel Maddow sought clarity on the practical aspects of Jayapal's resistance lab. Jayapal elaborated, Yeah I mean, what we decided is that we really need to help Americans understand what happens when democracies fall when dictators take over. Weve been pretty complacent in America. We havent had to really deal with this in any real way." She highlighted the importance of learning from global examples of democratic erosion and the resistance movements that have successfully countered such trends.

Jayapal further explained the curriculum developed for this initiative, which aims to educate participants on undermining the "pillars of support" that sustain authoritarian regimes.

She noted, Weve developed a curriculum where we help people understand, how do you go after the pillars of support? Not necessarily the person at the top but the pillars of support that allow that person to continue to have power? And how do you shift allies from being sort of passive opponents to being active supporters of taking down a dictatorship?
