President Donald Trump has taken decisive action to counter what he perceives as a divisive ideology infiltrating the Smithsonian Museums.
By signing an executive order, he aims to eradicate the influence of race-centered narratives that, in his view, misrepresent American and Western values as inherently oppressive.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the executive order also tasks Interior Secretary Doug Burgum with evaluating whether any public monuments or historical markers have been altered or removed under the Biden administration to perpetuate a skewed version of American history. The order emphasizes the need to preserve the integrity of historical events and figures, free from partisan reinterpretation.
The executive order articulates concerns about the Smithsonian Institution's recent direction, stating, "Once widely respected as a symbol of American excellence and a global icon of cultural achievement, the Smithsonian Institution has, in recent years, come under the influence of a divisive, race-centered ideology." It highlights exhibits such as "The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture" at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, which suggests that race has been used to maintain systems of power and privilege. The exhibit also posits that "sculpture has been a powerful tool in promoting scientific racism" and challenges the notion of race as a biological reality, describing it instead as "a human invention."
Further, the National Museum of African American History and Culture has labeled attributes like "hard work," "individualism," and "the nuclear family" as elements of "White culture." The upcoming Smithsonian American Womens History Museum is set to spotlight male athletes in women's sports, raising additional concerns.
President Trump's administration is committed to restoring federal historical sites, including museums, to serve as uplifting monuments that celebrate America's rich heritage and progress. The executive order asserts that these institutions should educate rather than indoctrinate, steering clear of narratives that divide and distort.
To spearhead this initiative, President Trump has appointed Vice President J.D. Vance to lead efforts in revitalizing the Smithsonian Institution. The goal is to reestablish it as a beacon of American greatness, inspiring future generations and fostering a sense of pride in the nation's history and achievements.
