In a startling revelation, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team have disclosed that a significant portion of phone calls received by the Social Security Administration are fraudulent.
According to their findings, 40% of these calls are made by individuals attempting to alter beneficiaries' bank details to siphon off benefits. "When you want to change your bank account, you can call Social Security. We learned 40% of the phone calls that they get are from fraudsters," stated one of Musk's associates.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, President Trump's DOGE head, Elon Musk, along with his team, discussed these alarming discoveries during an interview with Bret Baier. The conversation, which aired on Thursday evening, shed light on the waste, fraud, and abuse prevalent in government spending, which they have uncovered in a mere two months. Musk elaborated on the fraudulent activities, explaining that these impostors "call in, they say, they claim to be a retiree, then they convince the Social Security personnel to change where the money is flowing." He further emphasized, "It actually goes to some fraudster."
The DOGE team is actively working to address these issues, aiming to protect legitimate beneficiaries from routine fraud and enhance their overall experience with Social Security. A DOGE engineer highlighted, "The two improvements that were trying to make to Social Security are helping people that legitimately get benefits protect them from fraud that they experience every day on a routine basis, and also make the experience better." The engineer also reiterated the staggering statistic that nearly half of the calls to Social Security are fraudulent attempts to change direct deposit information.
Musk's team has also uncovered other troubling aspects of the Social Security system. They have identified over 25 million Americans registered as aged 100 or older, with some even purportedly older than the U.S. Constitution. In response, DOGE has taken steps to rectify these discrepancies by marking Social Security recipients aged 120 and older as deceased.
Despite the clear evidence of fraud and the impact on genuine retirees, there remains staunch opposition from Democrats against Musk and his team's efforts to eradicate corruption within the system. This raises questions about the potential benefits some elected Democrats might derive from the existing fraudulent practices. The resistance to reform suggests a deeper entanglement with the status quo, which may hinder efforts to safeguard taxpayer money and ensure that Social Security benefits reach their rightful recipients.
The revelations by Musk and his team underscore the urgent need for reform within the Social Security Administration. As they continue their mission to expose and eliminate inefficiencies, the question remains: how many more layers of fraud and abuse will they uncover, and what will it take for bipartisan support to emerge in addressing these critical issues?
